CAMP ICHIGAYA, Japan – Major Gen. Viet X. Luong, U.S. Army Japan’s commanding general, was welcomed by Gen. Koji Yamazaki, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s chief of staff, during his first official visit here Sept. 12. Following an honors ceremony, Luong held discussions with Yamazaki and senior Ground Staff Office officials. Later in the day, Luong met with Lt. Gen. Takahashi Motomatsu, Joint Staff’s vice chief of staff; Keitaro Ohno, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense; and Gen. Yoshinari Marumo, Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s chief of staff.
