Ngày 17/9/2018, 32 dân biểu Liên Hiệp Âu Châu ra điều kiện, nếu Việt Nam không cải thiện nhân quyền như điều chỉnh lại Luật An Ninh Mạng, thả tù nhân lương tâm, tôn trọng tự do tôn giáo, công đoàn độc lập, Quốc hội Châu Âu sẽ không phê chuẩn Hiệp Định thương mại EVFTA, dự tính sẽ đưa ra phê chuẩn cuối năm 2018-đầu năm 2019.
